PUNJAB GOVERNOR STARTS BORDER DISTRICTS VISIT

Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, while starting his four-day visit to the border districts, has said today that Village Defence Committees have been formed in 6 border districts of the state. He praised the role being played by these committees in public awareness in the border areas and said that members from each committee will be in direct contact with the Raj Bhavan so that they can know the problems and capabilities of the border areas in a better way.

Addressing the members of the committees of the district in the village of Jodha Bhaini, located right next to the India-Pakistan border, the governor invited the committee members to mobilize against the anti-national forces and said that the Village Defence Committees should meet at least once a month.

(SUBHEAD) He said that one officer would be posted as a nodal officer for each village security committee to ensure better coordination between the people and the administration. Village Defence Committees are doing awareness work against bad elements.

Earlier, Jalalabad MLA Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy, Abohar MLA Sandeep Jakhar also addressed.

Principal Secretary VK Meena, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor K Shiva Prasad, Commissioner Arun Sekhari, DIG Ranjit Singh Dhillon, Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu, SSP Varinder Singh Brar, BSF Commandant Ravi Ranjan were also present.
