AWWA’S LITERARY EXTRAVAGANZA ABHIVYAKTI-2024 TAKES OFF AT CHANDIMANDIR MILITARY STATION

The eagerly awaited literary extravaganza - Abhivyakti-2024 by the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) - took off today with grandeur at Khetarpal Officers’ Mess and Institute, Headquarters Western Command, Chandimandir Military Station. The event witnessed the presence of acclaimed actor Boman Irani, while the ceremonial inauguration was done by Sunita Dwivedi, President AWWA ; Shuchi Katiyar, Regional President AWWA and Ranjana Malik, wife of former COAS Gen V P Malik by lighting the lamp.

This three-day literary celebration 'AWWA Abhivyakti Literature Festival, 2024' set to conclude on November 10, 2024, draws a diverse array of renowned personalities – celebrities, authors, storytellers, poets, artists, and intellectuals – who will contribute to the vibrant atmosphere. The event is open to all, inviting the community to immerse themselves in the world of books and ideas.

Boman Irani spoke about his childhood struggle and finally carving a niche for himself in Bollywood. The Munna Bhai MBBS and 3 Idiots fame actor Irani said: “I am privileged to be among such a highly revered audience. We are proud of our Army. Their valour has stories to be told for the next 50 years.” Irani’s address left the audience spellbound. The beauty of his words brought out touching realities of life including tips for how to parent one’s child. “Don’t judge your kids with marks but with his inner qualities,” he said.

The festival which is themed on ‘Explore, Express and Experience’ on Day 1 witnessed enlightening panel discussions involving literary gems from the Army. Moderated by Nitya Shukla, panelists Anuja Chauhan, Aditi Mathur Kumar and Meenu Tripathi did a brilliant dissection of the topic ‘Timeless Voices: Celebrating Women Writers and Contributions of Army Spouses'. Amish Tripathi in conversation with Prachi Joshi Johar unfolded ‘Mythical Modernity: Indian Legends Re-imagined’ while stressing the need for balancing between different socio-cultural perspectives.

Regional President AWWA Suchi Katiyar said that Abhivyakti-2024 brings together prominent authors, poets, artists, and thinkers to engage audiences through panel discussions, readings, workshops, and interactive sessions. “It aims to inspire and encourage creativity, while fostering a love for literature and the arts among all age groups,” she said.

Panelists shared their insightful thoughts on the topic ‘Unshackling the Financial Labyrinth.’ Neelam Kulkarni in conversation with Colonel Avnish Sharma touched upon unexplored dimensions of Indian civilization and culture, while discussing the topic ‘India’s Civilizational History: A Brilliant Mosaic.’

The Day 1 of Abhivyakti-2024 also saw the launch of several books such as ‘Aalekh’ by Meenu Tripathi, ‘Abhaya,’ a book edited by Soni Sangwan, depicting the lives of 27 Indian women having made a difference in life, and ‘Kargil Yoddha’ by Shikha Akhilesh Saxena. Two AWWA Achievers were felicitated by President AWWA. There was an exhibition of books and creative goods of individuals and organizations aided by AWWA.

Abhivyakti-2024 not only brings together acclaimed authors, storytellers, journalists, celebrities, influencers, and reading enthusiasts under one roof but also provides an excellent opportunity for tricity residents to fully engage with this vibrant celebration.
