More than 9000 metric tons of DAP and its substitute fertilizers have been distributed by cooperative societies in Fazilka district to their farmer members. Apart from this, the government has sent a large quantity of fertilizer to private shops for farmers.
Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies (DRCS) Sonu Mahajan said that through 123 cooperative societies of the district, the work of supplying fertilizer to their farmer members is done.
He said that fertilizers are supplied to cooperative societies by Markfed and IFFCO. So far 8052 metric tons of DAP have been distributed to the farmer members by the cooperative societies. Apart from this, 987 metric tonnes of NPK has been supplied to farmers as an alternative to DAP.
The DRCS said that 5042 metric tonnes of DAP fertilizer have been supplied through Markfed and 3010 metric tonnes through IFFCO. Apart from this, 425 metric tons of NPK 12:32:16 fertilizer has also been supplied while 562 metric tons of NPK 16:16:16 has been supplied.
While assuring the farmer members of the cooperative societies of the district, he said that they will not face shortage of fertilizer in any form. More racks of DAP can be expected in the next few days. Farmer members of this district will get sufficient supply of DAP and other fertilizers that can be used as its substitute for distribution through cooperative societies. He appealed to the farmers to keep buying fertilizers as the sowing is going on and more fertilizers will also be available.
He said that instead of DAP, farmers can use other fertilizers containing phosphorus like NPK, Single Super Phosphate and Triple Super Phosphate recommended by the Department of Agriculture for sowing wheat, potato and mustard.
