VIGILANCE BUREAU ARRESTS PRIVATE PERSON ACCEPTING RS 10K BRIBE FOR REGISTRATION OF LAND

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its drive against corruption in the state, have arrested a private typist Deepak Kumar, working in district courts complex Bathinda for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10000 on behalf of revenue officials. 

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the state VB said this case has been registered against the accused typist, a resident of Basant Vihar Nagar, Bathinda, based on a complaint filed by Gursehaj Singh, a resident of Burj Kahan Singh Wala, in Bathinda district, now residing at Goniana Mandi, on the Chief Minister’s anti corruption action line. 

He further informed that the complainant has alleged in his complaint that the aforementioned typist had demanded Rs 20000 to help him in registration of land in the sub-registrar office Bathinda and to pay the money to the Reader and Clerk of sub-registrar besides concerned Numberdar. He alleged that upon his repeated requests the said accused had agreed to take Rs 10000 bribe for the same. The complainant had recorded the conversation between the typist and himself and handed over to the VB as an evidence. 

He further added that during the verification of this complaint the allegations levelled in the complaint were found to be true. In this regard a FIR has been registered against the aforementioned accused typist at VB police station Bathinda range and role of others would be verified during further investigation.
