SC JUDGES MR. JUSTICE B.R. GAVAI AND MR. JUSTICE SURYA KANT ADDRESS 6TH PU LAW CONVOCATION

Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh successfully organised its 6th Law Convocation at Gymnasium Hall, PU Campus, here on Saturday,  where more than 650 students were awarded law degrees.

The 6th Law Convocation was honoured by the captivating presence of legendary Guests. It commenced with the arrival of distinguished guests Chief Guest Hon’ble Mr. Justice B.R. Gavai, Judge, Supreme Court of India, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court of India; Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice, Punjab and Haryana High Court and was followed by Academic Procession and University Anthem. 

Director, UILS, Prof. Shruti Bedi, and Prof. Dr. Vandana Arora, Chairperson, Department of Laws felicitated the eminent guests of honour and extended a warm welcome to all. 

PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig inaugurated the 6th Law Convocation with her opening address, declared the convocation open and elaborated on the purpose of education, building strong character, handling various challenges of life and becoming financially independent. 

Thereafter, the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Mr. Justice B.R. Gavai, Judge, Supreme Court of India, added distinction to this occasion with his opening speech, The Chief Guest elevated the spirit of this event with his awe-inspiring dialogue with listeners. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Surya Kant congratulated the students on the culmination of years of hard work and focused on the importance of working at the grassroots level, especially the district courts, in cultivating better professional skills. 

(SUBHEAD)Hon’ble Mr. Justice B.R. Gavai, Judge, Supreme Court of India in his convocation address focused on Championing justice for marginalised, the importance of hardwork and motiviated the students to aim for higher goals in life. He also highlighted the possibility of working in the new emerging areas where lawyers can hone their skills. 

This remarkable event was carry forwarded by (DUI nominee) Professor Davinder, former Chairperson Department of Laws, who awarded the degrees to the Post graduate & graduate students. Special awards & Honours were conferred by the Chief Guest Hon’ble Mr. Justice B.R. Gavai, Judge, Supreme Court of India. 

Like every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn; It was concluded by a formal vote of thanks by well-regarded director, UILS. This high-standing Convocation of Panjab University, well thought-out by highly regarded Director/Professor of UILS, Panjab University, Prof. Shruti Bedi; reflected her commitment in nurturing skillful individuals; prepared to excel in every field and contribute in the holistic growth of society.

6th Law Convocation was successfully declared closed by Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig in high spirits; it was solemnised with National Anthem. 

The convocation ceremony became a momentous occasion where students, faculty, family, and friends celebrated the academic achievements of students. Panjab University expressed many congratulations to their accomplishments. Panjab University celebrated the Academic excellence and achievement of over 650 graduating students from the University Institute of Legal Studies; Department of Laws and the Regional Centers of Panjab University, Chandigarh.
