ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 3080 INDIA CREATES WORLD RECORD, DISTRIBUTES 6 LAKH SANITARY PADS IN 24 HOURS

Rotary International District 3080 India created a world record by distributing 6 lakh sanitary pads within 24 hours. DG, RTN Rajpal Singh was the Chief Guest of the event while Mr. Gurjot Singh, General Secretary, Chandigarh Gurdwara Asthapan Committee Sector 22-D and Harshuhinder Pal Singh Brar, Director School Education Chandigarh Administration attended the program as special guests. Apart from them, Ms.Kiranjit Kaur, Judge India Book of Records, Mr. Atul Gupta, Managing Director Nine Private Limited, Mr. RS Cheema, Project Patron and Wing Commander (Dr.) JS Minhas, Project Chairman wete also present during the program.

During his address, Chief Guest Rajpal Singh praised the works of Rotary Club and said that Rotary Club is always ahead in such social works. He congratulated Rotary Club Central for creating this record.

On this occasion Mr. Harshuhinder Pal Singh Brar, Director School Education Chandigarh Administration praised Rotary Club and said that we have witnessed numerous Guinness records being set in the country, but no one wanted to talk about the Guinness record we have made today. He said that Rotary has taken such an initiative of distributing free sanitary pads that the Government of India is also considering the policy of distributing free sanitary pads in government schools.

(SUBHEAD)On this occasion, president Rotary Club Chandigarh Central Mr. S.P. Ojha said that we have made this world record of distributing 6 lakh sanitary pads and have also contacted India Book of Records in this regard. We have achieved this feat by following the eligibility proper procedure and system. He said that the counting was done last night under the supervision of Ms. Kiranjit Kaur, where the number turned out to be 6 lakh 1 thousand 20. He said that now in the next step the distribution will be initiated.

He added that this is a matter related to women's health and hygiene, on which work was being done for three months. He said that to make this record, these pads were distributed to the representatives of 110 clubs of Chandigarh, Haryana, Himachal, Uttarakhand, UP and Punjab.

On this occasion, Mr. Gurjot Singh, General Secretary, Chandigarh Gurudwara Asthapan Committee, Sector 22-D, Chandigarh said that for this social work and world record, we provided a hall to the Rotary Club and helped them in every possible way. He said that he is ready to serve in such programs in the future as well.

On this occasion, Ms. Kiranjit Kaur, Judge India Book of Records said that our program today was solely focused on women health and hygiene. She said that while distributing sanitary pads, it is also important to make women aware about how and for how many hours to use them. She said that women should be aware of its benefits.

All the members of Rotary Club Chandigarh and Rotary India District 3080 attended the event. Along with this, members of all the Rotaract clubs of Chandigarh were also present during the program. Each one of them has extended complete cooperation in achieving this historic feat.
