The Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau’s Gurugram team on January 3, 2025, arrested Rajesh Kumar, a Superintending officer posted at the CGO Complex office in Faridabad, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000.

The accused had demanded a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the complainant in exchange for filing a notice and processing the return for the second phase of the annual survey of service sector industries. A case has been registered against the accused in the Faridabad Anti-Corruption Bureau and he has been arrested. The arrested accused was produced in the court on Saturday, where Court has ordered that the accused Rajesh Kumar be sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

(SUBHEAD)The Anti-Corruption Bureau, Gurugram, had received a complaint in this regard. The complainant stated that the accused had issued two notices dated 16.12.2024 and 30.12.2024, requiring the submission of returns for the second phase of the annual survey of service sector industries.

The accused had threatened the complainant that if he did not give him a bribe, he would be fined under the Statistics Collection Act. A plan was made to catch the accused after investigating the matter, and on January 3, 2025, the ACB team arrested the accused red-handed from the CGO Complex in Faridabad with a bribe of Rs. 20,000. All aspects of the case are being investigated. This entire action was carried out with complete transparency in the presence of witnesses. A case has been registered against the accused in the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Faridabad.

The spokesperson said that the ACB, Faridabad has questioned the above-mentioned accused Rajesh Kumar about the role of other officers/employees posted in his office in this matter.
