MAYOR ELECTION: DC HOLDS MEETING AT MUNICIPAL COROPORATION OFFICE

The Deputy Commissioner of Chandigarh Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav chaired a meeting at the Municipal Corporation (MC) office, Sector-17, Chandigarh today to review the arrangements and ensure the smooth conduct of the Mayor election to be held tomorrow on 30th January 2025 at Assembly Hall of the Municipal Corporation, Sector-17, Chandigarh.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the preparations for the election, including security arrangements, logistics, and compliance with the prescribed guidelines. The Commissioner held discussions with senior officials of the Municipal Corporation and Chandigarh Administration and Police officials, emphasizing the importance of a fair, transparent, and efficient election process.

(SUBHEAD) The Deputy Commissioner apprised all concerned about their roles and responsibilities during the conduct of the elections of the Mayor, the Senior Deputy Mayor and the Deputy Mayor and exhorted all the officials to perform their duties strictly as per the Rule Book for successful conduct of these elections.

The Policer shall ensure proper barricading of the three roads approaching the office of Municipal Corporation, U.T., Chandigarh. Sufficient police personnel (male & female) shall be deployed for maintaining law and order during the election. Adequate security arrangements shall be made to ensure that no unauthorised person shall enter the premises of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh building.

The requisite number of cameras inside the assembly hall shall be installed at the decided locations so as to capture the proceedings and important event from different angles and arrangements shall be made to keep the backup of the CCTV recording for stipulated period of time.

Present during the meeting were Hon’ble Former Judge Ms. Justice Jaishree Thakur, Observer appointed by Hon’ble Supreme Court, Sh. Ramneek Singh Bedi. Presiding Officer, Sh. Amandeep Singh Bhatti, PCS, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Gurinder Singh Sodhi, Joint Commissioner-I, Ms. Isha Kamboj, Joint Commissioner-II, Ms. Shashi Vasundhara, Joint Commissioner-III, Ms. Khushpreet Kaur, SDM (South), Ms. Shri Devi, IPS (Trainee), Sh. Rajiv Tewrai, Director Public Relations, along with other officials of MC Chandigarh.
