Eleven persons died while several others were injured in a tragic road accident which took place today morning at around 08.00 am near Mohan Ke Uthar village in Guruharsahai sub-division.
As per the information, a Mohindra pickup van (PB 02 CC 8791) carrying more than 20 persons who worked as waiters was going from Guruharsahai for a function at Jalalabad.
As soon as it reached near Mohan ke Uthar village, the tyre of a mini truck (canter) (RJ 19 GG 2581) which was coming from the opposite direction, reportedly got burst due to which its driver lost balance and it eventually collided with the pickup van head on. In the collision, eight persons died on spot while three others succumbed to the injuries after they were taken to nearby hospitals.
In addition to that, nine others sustained critical injuries who are undergoing treatment at various hospitals.
Saumya Mishra SSP said that as soon as the matter was reported, teams from “Sadak Suraksha Force” (SSF) reached on the spot and started the rescue operation. During the preliminary investigation, it was presumed that the mishap took place due to fog, however, the police is still investigating the reason behind the incident" said SSP. Deepshikha Sharma Deputy Commissioner said that some of the critically injured were referred to the Guru Gobind Singh Medical College in Faridkot, while few others were admitted at Civil Hospital in Jalalabad.

Deepshikha Sharma Deputy Commissioner said that some of the critically injured were referred to the Guru Gobind Singh Medical College in Faridkot, while few others were admitted at Civil Hospital in Jalalabad. “Five ambulances had reached the spot immediately after the incident”, said DC adding that the administration will bear the cost of treatment of those who are injured.
