ONLY 212 TRAVEL AGENTS IN PUNJAB HAVE VALID LICENSES, 92 PERCENT WORKING ILLEGALLY, REVEALS MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS

The report of the Ministry of External Affairs on travel agents in Punjab has revealed that there are only 212 travel agents in the state who have valid licenses. 92 percent travel agents in Punjab are working illegally and 8 percent are agents who come under the central guidelines.

The licenses of about 65 out of 212 have expired and have been cancelled by the central government. There are eight districts of Punjab in which not a single travel agent is registered, but travel agents are working illegally on a large scale in every district of Punjab.

According to the information received, the Central Government is preparing to take action against many fake travel agents of Gujarat, Punjab, Chandigarh and Delhi. There are eight districts of Punjab in which not a single travel agent is registered as per the list of the Center. These districts include Sri Muktsar Sahib, Tarn Taran, Faridkot, Pathankot, Ferozepur, Malerkotla, Fazilka and Mansa.It is noteworthy that the Center has listed a total of 2730 fake travel agents of these districts. Against whom the central investigation agencies are preparing to take action.

According to report, the maximum number of legitimate travel agents working in the state in Jalandhar. This has been claimed in the report of the Central Government. After Jalandhar, the maximum number of travel agents are registered in Mohali and then Hoshiarpur.

There is one agent in Fatehgarh Sahib (license suspended), 2 in Sangrur (license of one cancelled), 3 in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (license of one expired), 2 in Moga district (license of one expired), only 3 in Kapurthala and one in Patiala and two agents registered (license expired) in Bathinda.
