SEVEN MOBILES RECOVERED FROM JAIL, 16 MOBILES RECOVERED WITHIN TWO DAYS

In yet another recovery, seven mobile phones have been recovered from the central jail. Yesterday also, nine mobile phones had been recovered.

As per information, during a search operation carried out in the jail, the jail officials recovered a packet which had been thrown from outside. When the packet was opened, seven mobile phones (five keypads, two touch screen), 48 packet of “beeri” (country made cigarettes) and 187 packets of tobacco and two mobile charger were recovered.

153 mobile phones have been recovered from jail during the last two months only. Earlier on February 6, six undertrials were booked following the recovery of ten charging wires, three charging adaptors, 945 intoxicating capsules and 16 packets of tobacco.a

Following the recovery, a FIR against unidentified persons were lodged at city police station (FIR No. 61 Dated 11.03.2025).

Yesterday, the police had booked six undertrials identified as Manjit Singh, Punjab Singh, Sarabjit Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Gurmanpreet Singh, Jaswinder Singh and Harman Singh following recovery of nine mobiles (FIR No. 60 Dated 09.03.25). These mobiles had been recovered from the jail from February 27 to March 9 this year.

Notably, 153 mobile phones have been recovered from jail during the last two months only. Earlier on February 6, six undertrials were booked following the recovery of ten charging wires, three charging adaptors, 945 intoxicating capsules and 16 packets of tobacco.a
