FORMER CRICKETER DINESH MONGIA INTERACTED WITH STUDENTS OF UNIVERSITY INSTITUE OF FASHION TECHOLOLGY AT PU

Noted former Team India Cricketer Mr. Dinesh Mongia today interacted with the students of University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development, Panjab University.

The lecture was organised by University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development under the chairmanship of Dr. Prabhdip Brar and Guest Faculty, Dr. Ramandeep Bawa. The Guest of honour was Dr. Gaurav Gaur, Chairperson, Department of Social Work.

Mr.Dinesh Mongia was a member of the Indian team that was one of the joint-winners of the 2002 ICC Champions. In his domestic cricket career, Mr. Mongia scored 8,100 runs at an average of just under 50 and his highest score being an unbeaten 308. In 2004, he signed for Lancashire as an overseas player. In 2005 he was signed by Leicestershire on a full-time contract.

Mr. Mongia is the first Indian cricketer to play a T20 match, playing for Lancashire against Leicestershire in the 2004 Twenty20 Cup. He played for Lancashire in the 2004 County Championship. He has played a series of matches against Australia, Srilanka and Bangladesh. He made his ODI debut in 2001 against Australia. In 2002, almost a year after his debut, he picked up his first and only century (an unbeaten 159 off just 147 balls against Zimbabwe) to win the Man of the Match award. He was also named the Man of the Series in that tour.

 In his interactive lecture, Mr. Mongia focused on how can the personality of a person can be developed. He also elaborated that ‘Thoughts’ play a major role in framing our beliefs, perceptions and habits ultimately leading to personality or Person reality. Repetition of doing things helps us to achieve our goals. He further discussed that one can achieve everything and anything in life if our thoughts are clear and determined. Life has no limitations except the one we make ourselves. It is our thoughts that are important for creating our own self, he added. 

The lessons of life shared by him were very enlightening and sounded very helpful for the students in development of their careers.
