In an attempt to motivate and train border youths to join Armed forces, the district administration, as a part of its ” War Against Drugs” campaign, has joined hands with BSF to launch an innovative Skill Development Programme named “Sanchar” under which direct training will be provided to the youth at cluster level. The initiative was launched today by Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar in presence of various MLAs and police officials.
(SUBHEAD)While talking to Media persons Deepshikha Sharma DC said that the programme specifically targets youth from border villages, providing them training and skills so that they can be recruited in army and other paramilitary forces. ” Each training batch will consist of 25-30 young participants who will receive specialized skills and preparation for potential careers in the forces” said DC, adding that to ensure effective implementation, training clusters will be established throughout the district. ” The nearest cluster head will deliver required training modules at the village level, making the programme accessible to all eligible youth” she said.
“Sanchar is designed not only to create career opportunities for our border village youth but also to steer them away from the dangers of drug abuse,” said DC, adding that by providing purposeful training and a path toward respected careers, we will be addressing the drug issue at its roots.
Following its initial implementation, the programme will be scaled up to cover the entire district as part of the comprehensive strategy in the War Against Drugs.
