PANJAB UNIVERSITY ACHIEVES HISTORIC PODIUM FINISH AT 38TH AIU NATIONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL

Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, has achieved a historic milestone by securing the second Runner-Up Champion Trophy at the 38th AIU Inter-University National Youth Festival. The national festival was hosted by Amity University, Noida.  

This marks the first time PU has attained a podium finish at this prestigious national event. Notably, every PU participant who qualified for the national level secured a position, showcasing the university’s commitment to excellence in cultural and artistic pursuits. 

PU students delivered stellar performances across various categories, with top achievements including a first-place finish in Skit by Mahin Vaidya, Arshiya Verma, Khushi Sehgal, Eishit Goel, Tanmay Goel, and Garv Rajora from G.G.D.S.D. College, Sector 32, Chandigarh. Esha from D.A.V. College, Sector 10, Chandigarh, secured first position in Western Vocal Solo, while Rupali Sharma from Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, won first place in Mimicry. Neelam from Govt. College for Girls, Ludhiana, claimed the top spot in Mehndi Designing. 

(SUBHEAD)The Installation team, comprising Sahil and Prateek Dutt Sharma from Govt. College of Art, Sector 10, Chandigarh, along with Mohammad Atif from G.G.D.S.D. College, Sector 32, Chandigarh, and Achom Lamnganba from D.A.V. College, Sector 10, Chandigarh, secured second place.

In the One-Act Play category, Simran Chopra, Kanak Thakur, and Divyanshu from G.G.D.S.D. College, Sector 32, Chandigarh, achieved third position. The university’s Cultural Procession team also secured third place. The Group Song (Indian) team, featuring Swar Sharma, Esha, Aditya Bhagra, Vanshika, Jasagam Kaur, and Pragati from D.A.V. College, Sector 10, Chandigarh, also secured third position.

In solo performances, Hargunpreet Kaur from Ramgarhia Girls College, Ludhiana, won fourth place in Classical Vocal Solo, while Aditya Bhagra from D.A.V. College, Sector 10, Chandigarh, finished fourth in Western Instrumental Solo. 

Adding to these individual and team victories, PU secured the Overall 1st Runner-Up position in the Theatre category.

Lauding the students’ achievements, PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig said, “This remarkable feat at the national youth festival is a reflection of the unwavering dedication, passion, and talent of our students. Their exceptional performances have brought great laurels to the university and will inspire future generations of PU students to strive for excellence in arts and culture.” She also congratulated the Director Youth Welfare, Dr. Sukhjinder Rishi, and Assistant Director, Dr. Tejinder Gill, principals, mentors and participants for their contributions to this outstanding achievement.
