CBI ARRESTED CHANDIGARH ASI AND MIDDLEMAN ACCEPTING BRIBE OF RS. 54 K AS FIRST INSTALMENT

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two accused including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Chandigarh Police, Police Post, ISBT, Sector 43, Chandigarh and middle man for demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs.54,400/- as 1st installment of total demanded bribe of Rs. 1.5 lakh from the complainant.

A case was registered by CBI on the basis of a written complaint dated 10.03.2025 against said accused ASI on allegations that there was a dispute between the complainant and another person.

Accused met the complainant and informed him that a private person had lodged a complaint against him in Chandigarh Court and the Court has sought report from accused ASI. Subsequently, accused demanded a bribe of Rs.1.5 lakhs from the complainant in lieu of favouring him in the said report. After negotiation accused agreed to accept bribe of Rs. 54,400/- as 1st installment.

CBI laid a trap and caught accused ASI and a private person for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.54,400/- as 1st installment from complainant. Later accused were arrested on Tuesday 

Searches were conducted by CBI at the residential premises of accused. Investigation is continuing.
