CHAITANYA MUKUND’S NAME REGISTERED IN THE GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS

Face2News/Panchkula:

Chaitanya Mukund, a resident of Panchkula living with cerebral palsy, already has many achievements to his name. He recently added another feather to his cap when he was honored with the 'Sabal Role Model' award at the Sabal Awards by Tata Steel Foundation. The award ceremony was held at Kudhir Mohanty Auditorium in Jamshedpur.

Tata Steel Foundation recognized Chaitanya’s remarkable work in the disability sector, which embodies his vision of achieving dignity through ability. Chaitanya is the son of State Awardee and retired popular announcer of Vividh Bharati, Chandigarh, Sarvapriya Nirmohi, and renowned dermatologist Dr. Rita Dutt.

A postgraduate in Mass Communication, Chaitanya credits his achievements to his parents, who nurtured him without ever making him feel any lack or limitation. In 2018, he gained national recognition by participating in a fashion event that was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. He also introduced India’s first disabled superhero through his debut book, “Shivay, The Wonder Boy.”

(SUBHEAD)In 2021, Chaitanya was selected for the prestigious NCPEDP-Javed Abidi Fellowship. His research focused on the maintenance and underreporting of crime and abuse data against people with disabilities, leading the Haryana PWD Commissioner to issue new guidelines for the Haryana Police. Due to his advocacy on this crucial issue, he was invited to participate in the U.S. State Department’s premier leadership program in March 2023.

Continuing his commitment to raising awareness, Chaitanya was appointed as a “Purple Ambassador” for the International Purple Fest 2024 by the Goa state government. During the event, he highlighted the lack of national crime statistics against disabled individuals to state disability commissioners and the Deputy Chief Commissioner. Following his initiative, the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities issued a notice to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), seeking a response on this matter.
