As per the directions of Director General, Mines and Geology Department, Sh. K.M. Pandurang, strict action is being taken against illegal mining in the state. In Mahendragarh district, a joint team of the district administration and mining department, with police support, checked 555 vehicles over the past two days. During this operation, two vehicles were fined, and penalties and royalties totaling Rs.6.35 lakh were collected.

Sharing information in this regard, a spokesperson of the department said that the joint team, along with the police, remained active even during holidays, closely monitoring illegal mining activities in Mahendragarh district.

On Friday and Saturday, the team checked 555 vehicles in different areas of the district. On Friday, a dumper was caught transporting gravel illegally from Rajasthan without a valid bill. After verifying the documents, the team imposed a penalty and royalty of Rs. 4.20 lakh.

Similarly, on Saturday, a tractor-trolley was spotted illegally bringing gravel from Rajasthan. When the team attempted to stop it, the driver tried to escape by unloading the sand on the way. However, the police acted swiftly and seized the tractor-trolley on the spot. A penalty and royalty of Rs. 2.15 lakh were imposed.
