BIKERS’ RALLY PROMOTING BORDER TOURISM RECEIVES WARM WELCOME IN FEROZEPUR

A spirited bikers’ rally, organized by Oxbow Explorer to promote border tourism, was warmly welcomed by INTACH Ferozepur Chapter at Dass & Brown World School in Ferozepur. The rally, which began from New Delhi on March 17, passed through Chandigarh, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, and Tarn Taran before reaching the historic town of Ferozepur.

In a special roundtable event themed “Gateway to Borders: Boosting Tourism & Heritage,” Brigadier Bikram Singh, Deputy GOC, and INTACH Punjab Convener Major General (Retd.) Balwinder Singh emphasized the untapped tourism potential of border districts like Ferozepur.

He highlighted that Ferozepur, being a border district with immense historical significance, offers numerous heritage sites that can be developed to attract tourists from around the world.

“Though Ferozepur may be industrially lagging behind due to its border location, it holds a treasure of tourism potential that surpasses many other places in Punjab and India,” said Dr. Gupta. “Our primary vision is to bring Ferozepur to the global tourism map so that international tourists can explore its rich heritage. Increased tourism will also boost local businesses like hotels, restaurants, taxis, and more.”

Dr. Gupta further stated that if private companies step forward to market Ferozepur’s historical sites internationally, the district could achieve remarkable prosperity.

Oxbow Explorer COO, Manisha Dutta, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in keeping heritage alive and promoting cultural awareness. Deputy GOC Bikram Singh, praised the bikers’ effort, emphasizing the need to enhance tourism infrastructure for attracting visitors.

The event concluded with a heartfelt honor ceremony for the bikers, leaving a strong message of unity, heritage, and hope for Ferozepur’s bright future as a tourism hub.

The occasion was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including Principal Dr. Rajesh Chandel, DGM Dr. Salin, Deputy Head Stuti, and INTACH members Paraminder Thind, Ashok Bahl, Deepak Sharma, Vikas Pasi, Anurag Aeri, Ranjan Sharma, Rajesh Verma, Advocate Pankaj Sharma, Kulwinder Nanda, Akshay Galhotra, among others.
