Government employees will not get leave as the Naib Singh Saini-led BJP government has issued a new notification cancelling the Eid holiday. This decision has heated up the discussion in the state. In its latest order, the government has removed Eid from the list of gazetted holidays and declared it a restricted holiday. This means that now this holiday will be optional and work will continue as usual in government offices.

According to the new notification, the government has given the reason behind this decision that this year the festival of Eid is falling on March 31, which is Monday. Just before this, Saturday (March 29) and Sunday (March 30) are already holidays due to the weekend.

March 31 is also the last day of the financial year 2024-25, which is known as the Financial Year Closing Day. On this day, it is necessary to complete accounting and financial work in government departments. The government says that in view of these circumstances, it has been decided to cancel the Eid holiday.

Apart from this, March 31 is also the last day of the financial year 2024-25, which is known as the Financial Year Closing Day. On this day, it is necessary to complete accounting and financial work in government departments. The government says that in view of these circumstances, it has been decided to cancel the Eid holiday.

It is clearly written in the notification, "Due to the weekend, there will be a holiday on Saturday and Sunday (29 and 30 March). Meanwhile, this decision has been taken on 31 March (Monday) as it is the closing day of the financial year." Under this order, Eid holiday has been converted into a restricted holiday, which means that employees are free to take it, but it will not be mandatory for everyone.

Meanwhile Mr. Hemant Kumar , Advocate of Punjab and Haryana High Court, said, it is strange and weird that while Haryana Government would observe a Restricted Holiday on 31st March 2025 (Eid-ul-Fitr) due to that day being the closing day of the Financial Year 2024-25 however the Banks and Other Financial Institutions etc. in the State of Haryana would remain closed on that day due to it being a Public Holiday.

He requested to Governor of Haryana to take due and prompt cognizance and wisely order appropriate action at the earliest.
