DC-CUM-PRESIDENT ZILA SAINIK BOARD CHANDIGARH VISITS THE ZILA SAINIK WELFARE OFFICE, CHANDIGARH

Shri Nishant Kumar Yadav, IAS, DC-cum- President Zila Sainik Board visited Zila Sainik Welfare Office, U.T., Chandigarh. He was briefed on functioning of Zila Sainik Welfare Office and Sainik Rest House (SRH) by Col. HS Ghuman (Retd), Zila Sainik Welfare Officer (ZSWO). He was also apprised about the addition and upgradation of welfare schemes for ESM, widows and wards of ESM being run by Chandigarh Administration.

The Deputy Commissioner was shown the various facilities available at ZSW Office complex and shown guestrooms for ex-servicemen. The DC said that there is an urgent need to renovate the building and guestrooms of SRH. The office of Chief Architect, Chandigarh has already approved the drawing plans to renovate this building including installation of a lift for old veterans. The DC said that Chief Engineer, Chandigarh Office will be doing the renovation of this ZSW Office building shortly.

After approval from DC-cum-President, ZSB, the finance Branch of ZSW Office has recently paid grants to the beneficiaries. Financial Assistance of Rs. 2,70,000 to 04 Beneficiaries of World War II Veterans; Incentive of Rs. 30,00,000 to 30 Beneficiaries as Rs 1 Lac given to each cadet on joining Armed Forces as Officer from Chandigarh; Stipends of Rs. 7,59,000 to 21 student beneficiaries studying at RIMC Dehradun resident of Chandigarh; and 12 beneficiaries given Rs. 2,33,928/- for computer Course for ESM and their dependents.

Shri Nishant Kumar Yadav, IAS, DC-cum-President Zila Sainik Board appreciated the efforts of Zila Sainik Welfare Office towards welfare of ESM, their widows and wards of Chandigarh (UT).
