Former SEWA International USA Vice president 44-year-old Darshan Soni was arrested on May 16 by the Carmel Police Department for allegedly plotting to murder his wife. He faces preliminary charges of conspiracy to Commit Murder, Murder and Attempted Murder so that he would not have to divorce his wife, reports FOX59/CBS4. Darshan Soni is being held in the Hamilton County Jail

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department alerted Carmel Police Department on May 12 about a tip it received that Darshan Soni intended to kill his wife at their Carmel home on May 16, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Indiana India Business Council Founder, President and CEO, Raju Chinthala in a statement issued here today said “it is hard to fathom that such a plot could be conceived –let alone by someone known and respected in our community,”

Soni's involvement in Hindu community makes these allegations all more painful and difficult to comprehend,

Hami”ton County Republican Party Treasurer Raju Chinthala said “I am grateful to the IMPD and Carmel Police Department for their swift and thorough investigation. Their work may have prevented an unthinkable tragedy, and I commend them for their diligence and commitment to public safety.

“The incident is a sobering reminder that no community is immune to darkness, We must stand together for justice, for the safety of all individuals, and values for compassion and non-violence that form the foundation of our culture and spiritual traditions.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the victim and her family, I firmly believe that Mr Soni should not be granted bail and that justice must be served to the fullest extent of the law.”
