A MONTH GONE, NO MEETING CALLED TO ELECT ABOHAR MC MAYOR

Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

Even when the election process for the Abohar Municipal Corporation had been completed by May 29, no meeting had been called to elect Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor. BJP had independently won the Corporation election only in Abohar across the state.

MLA Sandeep Jakhar today held a meeting with BJP councillors to discuss the issue of sewerage system amid the alerts on impending monsoon and heavy rains. The MLA and BJP’s new councillors visited the MC jointly for the first time but none welcomed them. He expressed deep concern over the stalled development projects of the city and the discriminatory policies of the government. After the meeting, when MLA Sandeep Jakhar along with the councillors tried to submit a memorandum to the Municipal Corporation demanding to set the sewerage system in order, there was no responsible officer present in his chair.

The MLA slammed the Mann-led government for deliberately giving step-motherly treatment to Abohar. The Punjab Government has not yet completed the election process of Municipal Corporation Mayor, due to which all the development works of the city have come to a standstill. Officers are running away from their responsibilities.

He also appealed to the AAP councillors to rise above party politics and immediately bring funds from their government for the welfare of the city so that the necessary works that were stalled before the monsoon can be started. Jakhar warned that he will not let the people of Abohar be left at the mercy of the administration and his fight for the restoration of rights and basic facilities of the city residents will continue.
