ABOHAR MUNICIPAL CORPORATION MAYOR TO BE ELECTED ON TUESDAY

The first meeting of newly elected councilors of Abohar Municipal Corporation has been fixed for Tuesday, July 7.

As per the letter sent to the Abohar MC Commissioner cum Deputy Commissioner Fazilka, issued by Divisional Commissioner office Superintendent Kuldeep Kumar, the meeting shall be held here on Tuesday at 2.30 PM. Councilors, who were declared elected on May 29, shall be administered oath of office and secrecy. This will be followed by election of Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor. The concerned officers have been asked to make necessary arrangements for the meeting as per the rules. This includes videography of the entire proceedings. The Deputy Commissioner and the Senior Superintendent of Police have been also asked to make necessary arrangements to maintain law and order.

Notably, BJP had won 28 seats in the corporation elections, AAP got 20, Congress one and an independent was also elected. BJP high command has appointed senior leader Manpreet Singh Badal as observer to finalise the names of Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor. MLA Sandeep Jakhar has also the right to vote in the election. There is no reservation for the post of Mayor.
