ANTI-DRUG ACTIVIST’S MURDER IN MANSA REMINDS NEHA’S MURDER IN 2019

Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

Daughter of 1971 war veteran Captain Kailash Shoree, 36-year-old Drug Inspector Neha was shot dead allegedly by a chemist in broad daylight at her office at Kharar on March 29, 2019.

Neha was among toppers in her entrance examinations at NIPER and later in her MSc (Pharmacy), too.

A responsible member of the pharmacy profession, Baljinder Singh Morjand, while raising the issue of murder of Parvinder Singh Jhota of Mansa, has said in an open letter, “We are living through a devastating reality in Punjab where prescription drug abuse and illegal medical intoxicants are slowly eroding our entire generation. This tragedy can be classified as nothing less than slow-motion genocide. The brutal gravity of this crisis has once again been underscored by the sensational daylight murder of anti-drug activist and brave citizen Parvinder Singh Jhota in Mansa, who was gunned down by a medical store owner simply because he was exposing the illicit sale of synthetic narcotics via a live broadcast from the premises.

The letter sent to senior political administrative personalities further says,”

We must understand a fundamental truth: Pharmacy is not merely a business or a commercial profession. However, when rogue elements within our own fraternity exploit medical stores to peddle poison for profit, every conscious pharmacist is forced to view this as an active part of a systemic genocide against our people.
This brings us to a painful and haunting question that demands an immediate answer—why is the entire pharmacy profession silent? Why have our professional councils and associations failed to speak out collectively against these black sheep.”

Morjand has demanded exemplary Punishment for the Accused: The medical store owner responsible for murdering Parvinder Singh Jhota must face the harshest legal retribution, and his operating license must be permanently revoked.

The Pharmacy Council and all chemist associations must step forward to publicly disown, blacklist, and boycott any individual or medical outlet trading in illicit narcotics. Every pharmacy professional, educator, and leader must break their silence, uphold their ethical duty, and actively join hands to save the youth of Punjab.
