A 32-year-old man, who was injured in an attack in Rajanwali village ten days ago, died while undergoing treatment last night at a hospital in Faridkot. The police handed over the body to his family after the post-mortem and have added murder-related charges to the previously registered case.
The deceased’s nephew, Sunil, said that on June 10, Jugnu was returning home after work. On the way, a fellow villager named Bittu and his associates allegedly attacked Jugnu with scissors and other sharp-edged weapons, leaving him critically injured. Jugnu’s associate, Ashok, arrived at the scene to save him but was also assaulted and injured by the accused. Jugnu was initially brought to the Civil Hospital in Abohar in critical condition and was subsequently referred to Faridkot. After battling for his life for about ten days, he died on Saturday night.
Ravinder Singh, incharge Wahabwala police station, stated that the preliminary investigation revealed Jugnu suspected the accused, Bittu, of communicating with his wife. A dispute had arisen between the two parties over this issue on June 10. It is alleged that, in a fit of rage, Bittu, along with his associates, attacked Jugnu.
The police had previously registered a case against Bittu, Sarwan, Uttam, and Mohit etc. The main accused, Bittu and Uttam, have been arrested, search for others is ongoing.
