Amanpreet Kaur, daughter of Harjit Singh of village Chak Kala Tibba and a Class 11 student in Bhag Singh Khalsa College for Women, delivered an outstanding performance in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ painting competition organized by the Indian National Congress to mark the 80th Independence Day.
Following her selection in the competition, Amanpreet Kaur was honored by LoP Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi at the All India Congress headquarters, Indira Bhawan. She was awarded a cash prize of Rs 20,000. Additionally, the INC has pledged to cover the expenses for her higher education after Class 12.
Rajinder Kaur, the Congress party Halqa in-charge for the Balluana constituency, welcomed Amanpreet Kaur upon her return from Delhi at the Abohar railway station. Representatives of the village panchayat were present alongside family members during the welcome ceremony.
It is learnt that approximately 5,900 girls from across India participated in the competition, with only 70 contestants being selected. This group included four girls from Punjab, among whom Amanpreet Kaur was chosen. She brings laurels to Bhag Singh Khalsa College for Women and Abohar area together.
Engineer Baldev Singh, a retired PSPCL SDO visited Amanpreet’s home to honor her and extend his best wishes for this achievement. He said that Amanpreet Kaur has emerged pride for the remote area located near the Indo-Pak border.
