CBI ARRESTS POSTAL DEPTT EXECUTIVE ENGINEER IN PRAYAGRAJ FOR TAKING RS.1.5 LAKH BRIBE

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Executive Engineer (Civil), Postal Civil Division, Prayagraj in a bribery case.

The CBI registered the instant case on 03.06.2026 against the said accused based on a complaint from a registered contractor with the Postal Department who carries out contractual work through his proprietary firm. It was alleged that when complainant met the accused Executive Engineer (Civil) to pursue his pending payments of Rs. 40 Lakh (approx.) against several works being executed by him through his Firm under the Postal Civil Division in the districts of Kanpur Dehat, Varanasi, Akbarpur,

Balrampur, Prayagraj, the accused demanded undue advantage/bribe of Rs. 3 Lakhs from him for processing and releasing the pending bill payments and also forced the complainant to pay an amount of Rs. 90,000 as bribe. The accused allegedly threatened the complainant that the pending bill payment would not be released if the demanded bribe is not paid.

The CBI laid a trap on 04.06.2026 and caught the accused red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.1,50,000 from the complainant.   Searches are being conducted. Investigation is continuing.
