The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested 03 accused, one Assistant Engineer (Civil) of BRO, Ladakh and two labour supply agents of Kargil for indulging in misappropriation of funds of BRO. The Assistant Engineer arrested was Officer In-charge of Khatse Batalic Sector under 81 RCC, BRO.
The Assistant Engineer in conspiracy with the 02 manpower supply agents has misappropriated the funds of BRO in the name of non-existent labours and the amounts have been deposited into his account by the agents. It may be recalled that CBI has registered 04 FIRs in connection with misappropriation of funds in various projects of BRO in Ladakh and conducted searches at 26 locations yesterday. In continuation, one more search has been conducted in Himachal Pradesh.
It may be recalled that these cases have been registered for allegations of criminal misconduct and bribing of public servants under Prevention of Corruption Act and for offences of conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust and forgery under IPC based on complaints lodged by Ministry of Defence.
The investigations are in progress. The CBI is committed to conduct a comprehensive and expeditious investigation in this regard.
