CBI COURT AWARDS FOUR YEARS’ RI WITH FINE OF RS. 14 LAKH TO THE ACCUSED IN UNREGULATED DEPOSIT SCAM CASE

The CBI Court, Guwahati, on Moday has sentenced the accused Md. Shakir to Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) for Four Years with a Fine of Rs. 14.05 Lakh in a case relating to collection and misappropriation of public deposits from investors in Assam.

The instant case pertaining to collection of unregulated deposits from public against false promises of investment in stock market and guaranteed impractical high returns and subsequently cheating of the depositors, was registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on 25.10.2024. After completion of investigation, the CBI filed chargesheet against the accused on 28.03.2026.

The Hon’ble Court, after the trial, convicted the accused Md. Shakir on 31.08.2026 and sentenced him on 07.09.2026, accordingly.
