The CBI Court, Kurnool, on Monday, has convicted and sentenced Mukundagiri Rangachari Srinivasan, the then Assistant General Manager (Air Traffic Management) and Officiating Airport Director, Kadapa Airport, Andhra Pradesh to Rigorous Imprisonment for Three Years with a fine of Rs. 50,000, in a bribery case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the instant case on 24.07.2015 against the said accused. It was alleged that the accused, while functioning as Assistant General Manager (Air Traffic Management) and Officiating Airport Director at Kadapa Airport, abused his official position as a public servant and demanded a bribe of Rs.50,000 from the complainant for processing the pending bills at an early date and for not initiating the process of blacklisting the complainant’s firm.

The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting Rs.25,000, as the first instalment of the demanded bribe.

After completion of investigation, the CBI filed chargesheet on 29.02.2016 against the accused. The Hon’ble Court, after the trial, convicted and sentenced the accused accordingly.
