CRIME BRANCH SMASHES CONTRACT KILLING SYNDICATE

:In a major breakthrough, the Police Station Crime, Chandigarh Police, has arrested Amreen , a resident of Sector 35, Chandigarh, for orchestrating the contract killing of Chamanpreet Singh (Cheeni). The victim was shot dead on March 18, 2026, outside a gym parking area.
The investigation revealed that the accused, Amreen, harbored a deep-seated grudge against Chamanpreet Singh over a recently purchased property in New Chandigarh. Amreen alleged that Chamanpreet had defrauded and cheated her during the transaction. She alleges that sold the property at significantly overpriced rates.
Withheld possession, causing her massive financial losses. Driven by a desire to “teach him a lesson,” Amreen sought the assistance of notorious gangster Lucky Patial to eliminate Chamanpreet. Amreen is a relative of Senior IPS Officers from Punjab.
THE CONSPIRACY & MODUS OPERANDI
The conspiracy began to take shape in 2025, when her associates met to discuss resolving the dispute. Eventually, she took matters into her own hands and contacted Harshpreet Singh Bains, a property dealer from Village Kaimbala, Mohali. Harshpreet Singh acted as the bridge, connecting Rai with Lucky Patial via encrypted communication apps.
Amreen was in regular communication with Lucky Patial . During these calls, she promised a significant monetary reward for the assassination.
KEY ARRESTS AND RECOVERY: The investigation gained momentum following the arrest of Harshpreet Singh (27) on April 29, 2026. Acting on secret information, a Crime Branch team conducting Naka duty near Satsang Bhawan, Maloya, apprehended Singh and recovered one imported .45 bore pistol and two live cartridges were seized.
Verification revealed that the weapon in Harshpreet’s possession was registered in the name of Amreen.
A case under Sections 25-54-59 of the Arms Act has been registered against him.
EXECUTION OF THE CRIME : Following the agreement, Lucky Patial managed the logistics, providing the shooters—Rajan @ Piyush Pehlwan and Pritam—with weapons, a motorcycle, and funds through various modules. On March 18, the duo carried out the fatal shooting of Chamanpreet Singh as directed.
CURRENT STATUS: With the arrest of the mastermind, Amreen, and the facilitator, Harshpreet Singh, the Chandigarh Police have successfully linked the local dispute to organized crime syndicates.
Further details are being verified, and the investigation is ongoing to identify other potential accomplices involved in the logistics and funding of this crime.
