As per the directions of Sh. Sagar Preet Hooda, IPS, W/DGP, UT Chandigarh Police, with close guidance of Sh. Pushpender Kumar, IPS, W/IGP/UT Chandigarh, Sh. Rajiv Ranjan Singh, IPS, W/DIG, UT, Chandigarh and Ms. GeetanjaliKhandelwal, IPS, SP Operations, UT, Chandigarh, under the close guidance of Sh. Vikas Sheokand, DSP Operations and under the supervision of Insp Satvinder got a major success in busting module of foreign
based gangsters Doni Bal and Mohabbat Randhawa. After a brief encounter three operatives of gang were apprehended and arrested along with foreign made
sophisticated pistols.
Police said on Monday , a team of Operation Cell was on patrolling, they received a secret information that three operatives of Doni Bal and Mohabbat Randhava Gang namely Prabhjot, Ajay and Jobanpreet who had already committed a murder of Gopi Nijjar, Kapurthala, were equipped with automatic pistols and were roaming in Chandigarh to comm it some offence. For this they were planning to snatch a car on gun point from near bus stand Sec 43.
On this information, a trap was laid near Sec 43 bus stand. On the identification of secret
informer accused were got identified and when the police party tried to nab them, they started running towards jungle area. Jobanpreet was overpowered along with a .32 bore pistol while Prabhjot Singh and Ajay opened fire aiming at police party. The police party warned them to surrender but they kept firing towards police party. One bullet got hit on the bullet proof jackets of one member of the Operation Cell team. On this, police party covered the area and in retaliation opened fire.
On sensing no way to escape the accused opted to surrender themselves. Total 5 fire rounds were fired, out of which three were fired by accused persons and two from police party side. Senior officials, CFSL and other teams visited the spot. A case FIR No 78 dated 19.05.2026 U/S 109, 132, 221,3(5) BNS 25, 27, 54, 59 Arms Act, PS Sector 36 were got registered against the accused
Interrogation: On the interrogation of accused persons, it came on record all the three were in contact with gangsters Mohabbat Randhawa and Doni Bal through encrypted messaging apps. On the directions of these foreign based gangsters, they committed the murder of gangster Gurpreet @ Gopi Nijjar, the last witness of gangster Sukha Kahlwan murder case in Kapurthala in the wee hours of dated 30.04.2026. After that, the Doni Bal gang claimed the responsibility for the killing through a social media post. Prabhjot Singh and Jobanpreet Singh were the main shooters along with the Gourav@Gola who is already arrested whereas Ajay provided weapons to them and one of the conspirators. Before that, they remained involved in trafficking weapons to other
shooters on the directions of Doni Bal, Shaganpreet, and Mohabbat Randhawa.
KNOW THE ACCUSED: Prabjot Singh S/o Baljeet Singh village Purana Teshil Batala, District Gurdaspur Punjab. Age 19 years, He came to India form Malaysia in February month and while he was working in Malaysia, he came in contact with Arshdeep a resident of Village Dinewal, Tarn Taran who introduced him with gangster Mohabbat Randhawa and Doni Bal.Educational qualification- 12th pass. Previous History. He was involved in the killing of Gurpreet @ Gopi Nijjar and wanted by Punjab Police for the same in FIR No. 30/2026, U/S 103(1) BNS, 25.27/54/59 Arms Act, PS Dhilwan, Kapurthala (PB).
RECOVERY: 01 Zigana Pistol (.30bore), 03 live cartridges, 01 empty cartridge
Jobanpreet Singh S/o Late Balwinder Singh Village Pakhoke, Teshil Khadur Sahib, District Tarn Taran, Punjab. Age 18.6 years. He was working with Ajay on food stall in front of GNDU University Amritsar. He also came in contact with Gangsters through Ajay. Jobanpreet is only eighteen and half years old, fatherless child, who was
groomed decisively to be their foot soldier on the pretext to get him settled
in foreign country. 10th pass. He was involved in the killing of Gurpreet @ Gopi Nijjar
and wanted by Punjab Police for the same in FIR No. 30/2026, U/S 103(1) BNS, 25.27/54/59 Arms Act, PS Dhilwan, Kapurthala(PB).One Pistol (.32bore). Two live cartridges recovered.
Ajay Pal Singh S/O Dalbir Singh Village Dinewal, Teshil Khadur Sahib, District Tarn Taran, Punjab.Age 24 years, Ajay already had a tainted past. Arshdeep was his childhood friend as both belong to the same village Dinewal. He also came in contact with gangster through Arshdeep and also made Jobanpreet to introduce him and other gangsters. He arranged the weapons and provided the same to the shooters and was in knowledge before the incident. He also forced Jobanpreet to go with shooters for committing the murder.
