Police achieved a major success by arresting of snatchers in case FIR No. 100 dated 29.06.2026 U/s 304(2), 3(5) BNS Added 317(2) BNS PS-36 Chandigarh.
The case was registered on the complaint of Ajay Kumar s/o Dharam pal Singh r/o VPO- Tanhihar, Distt- Mandi (HP), who stated that on 28.06.2026, he arrived at Chandigarh Railway Station from Maharashtra and was travelling to Sector 43 Bus Stand to board a bus for Himachal Pradesh. At 9.00 pm, while passing near the wine shop in Sector 42 on foot and proceeding towards the Sector 42/43 Small Chowk, suddenly, 2 persons on motorcycle came and pillion rider of motorcycle snatched his mobile OPPO A15 (Silver colour) including his adhaar card kept in mobile cover from his hand and fled away.
A team was constituted under the supervision of Sh. Dhiraj Kumar SDPO South West and Insp Chiranji Lal, SHO/PS 36, who geared up source of information and on the secret information, the accused persons namely Munia S/o Prabhu R/o oh NO 97/5 Village Attawa Sector 42, Chd and Rohit @ Andda S/o Yashbir Singh R/o H No 50/2, Village Attawa Sector 42, Chd have been arrested from Lake Sector 42, Chd, where they were planning to sell the snatched mobile.
Modus Operindi : The accused targeted single passengers nearby ISBT and after seeing isolated place, they used to snatch the mobile or any valuable articles from the passengers and they same was sold out for drug consumption.

Rohit @ Andda S/o Yashbir Singh R/o H No 50/2, Village Attawa Sector 42, Chd (Rider of Motorcycle) Age 21 yrs, Un-married, Residing with his family consisting mother, father and brother
Occupation working on mobile shop at Sec 22, Chandigarh. recovered Adhaar Card of complainant
