CHANDIGARH PRESS CLUB CONDEMNS ASSAULT ON PTC NEWS CAMERAMAN

Face2News/Chandigarh

The Chandigarh Press Club strongly condemns the assault on PTC News cameraman Raj Kumar Babloo at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar, while he was covering a developing news story involving a person in police custody.

According to reports, Sarpreet Singh, son of AAP Majitha in-charge Talbir Singh Gill, abused and slapped the cameraman and took away his mobile phone.

The incidnt raises serious concerns about press freedom, journalists’ safety and their ability to discharge professional duties without fear or intimidation. Violence against media professionals cannot be tolerated, irrespective of the position or political connections of those involved.

The Chandigarh Press Club  President and Rajesh Dhall Secretary General  urges the Punjab Police to conduct a fair, impartial and time-bound investigation, recover the cameraman’s mobile phone and take appropriate legal action against those found responsible. The Club stands in solidarity with Raj Kumar Babloo and the PTC News team and reiterates that journalists must be allowed to report freely and fearlessly.
