Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini unveiled the trophy of the Namo Cricket League-2026 on Thursday at a ceremony held in Sector-5, Panchkula. On this occasion, he encouraged the players and also tried his hand at cricket. The Chief Minister boosted the morale of sports talents and artists by presenting them with cricket bats and balls as a token of honour.
The Chief Minister congratulated the Sudesh Bhandari Charitable Trust for conceptualising the Namo Cricket League and for its preparations. Chief Minister’s Political Secretary Sh. Tarun Bhandari was also present on the occasion.
Organised with the aim of spreading awareness against drug abuse, the Namo Cricket League will see participation of more than 3,000 teams from 5 states. With such a large number of youth taking part, the message of a drug-free life will reach a wide scale. This event is also special because it is being launched on September 17, the birthday of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi.
Sports and sportspersons are deeply rooted in the soil of Haryana. Be it the Olympics, Paralympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games or other international competitions — Haryana’s athletes have repeatedly proven that despite being a small state, our spirit is very big. This same spirit was recently witnessed at the 23rd Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow. In these games, India won a total of 39 medals — 13 gold, 17 silver and 9 bronze — securing fourth place in the medal tally. Of these, Haryana’s athletes won 11 medals, including 7 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. Credit for these sporting achievements goes to the hard work of our athletes and the state government’s sports policy.
On this occasion, Mayor Sh. Shyam Lal Bansal, Chairperson of the Haryana Scheduled Castes Commission Smt. Banto Kataria, BJP leader Sh. Sanjay Tandon, OSD to the Chief Minister Sh. Bhopal Singh Khadri, Media Secretary to the Chief Minister Sh. Praveen Attrey, and other dignitaries were present.
