Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday gave a clarion call to people for the Social Boycott of the Akalis who were Guilty of Sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Addressing the gathering here during the Shukrana Yatra, the Chief Minister said that Sukhbir may never get another turn in power, but the time will certainly come when both he and Majithia will be behind the bars. He said that even after inflicting countless atrocities on people, they are still shamelessly holding rallies though
their family is in disarray as they are not in speaking terms with each other. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that after the law was enacted, Sukhbir had left the country and while sitting abroad, he kept consulting lawyers about whether he should return or not.
The Chief Minister said that his heart was indebted with the unbounded mercy of the Almighty who has bestowed him the service to serve the humanity by enacting Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Amendment Act 2026, which stipulates harsher punishment for sacrilege. He urged the people to go in the villages and make the masses aware that now anyone who will be found indulged in this heinous crime will be dealt with sternly and punished for this crime. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the previous rulers neither had intend nor will to enact law for checking the sacrilege due to which desecration of Sri Guru Granth sahib was a regular feature during their regimes.
However, the Chief Minister said that an act passed by the state government will put this to end as no one will ever dare to indulge in this unpardonable offence. Slamming the Akalis, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that they ordered firing on innocent people after they gathered to protest against the sacrilege across the state. He said that Guru Sahib has entrusted him with this service after which began yatra from Sri Kesgarh Sahib, paid obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib today and tomorrow he will bow at Damdama Sahib.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is now working for people and has provided free electricity to 90% of households, jobs to over 65,000 youth without corruption, improved roads, closed toll plazas saving Rs 70 lakh daily, and is building infrastructure. He said that in order to provide comprehensive healthcare to people the state government has launched Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna- the first-of-its-kind scheme in the country that provides cashless medical treatment up to Rs 10 lakh for every resident family in Punjab. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that Punjab is the first Indian state to offer such comprehensive healthcare coverage, which has significantly eased the financial burden on the public while ensuring quality health services.
