In response to the call for a Punjab bandh today by municipal sanitation workers, all markets in the city remained closed. The sanitation workers took out a massive protest rally in the city over their demands. During this Punjab bandh, the trader community and NGOs also extended their full support to them.

A silence prevailed in the city markets. Shops remained closed till 4 pm. For the convenience of passengers, buses continued to operate besides emergency services including medical stores and milk dairies.

At 11 a.m., office-bearers of the Safai Sewak Union and sewerage employees took out a protest rally in the city, which started from the Bhagwan Valmiki Ji temple in Sant Nagar and passed through main roads. Raising slogans against Bhagwant Mann, an effigy of the CM was burnt at the Shaheed Smarak near Sadar Bazar.

MLA Sandeep Jakhar, along with BJP councillors extended support to the Safai Sewaks and served them with fruits in the afternoon at Dr BR Ambedkar Chowk.
