CORPORATE SPONSORED BADMINTON DIPLOMACY, AILU OBJECTED TO PARTICIPATE JUDICIARY

Face2News/New Delhi

The corporate sponsored International Bar & Bench Badminton Tournament is a vulgar display of inappropriate and objectionable collaboration of judges of the Constitutional Courts, Law Minister of India and lawyers.

This event in London is co-sponsored by Ministry of Law & Justice and Corporates. This is a violent negation of Bangalore Principles of Judicial Conduct 2002 and compromising of principles of independence of judiciary.

It would affect peoples faith in the judiciary; ultimately it would cause severe deleterious impact on democracy. Where is highly and widely tom-tommed austerity measures declared and imposed on the taxpayers by the Government of India and followed by the Apex court and the judiciary? Who will bare huge expenses including travelling expenses of judges?

This event spreads wrong signal to bureaucracy , members of the judiciary at large, and all stakeholders of the judiciary- the people of India; viewed as Badminton diplomacy of Union Government to rope in judiciary.

All India Lawyers Union (AILU) expresses its objection and protest against participation of Chief Justice of India and judges in this sort of events sponsored by Corporates and Ministry of Law & Justice in violation of Bangalore Principles of Judicial Conduct 2002.

This type of involvement of corporates, government, the judges and advocates would raise serious doubt about the independence of judiciary, said, Bikas Ranjan Bhattacharya
President and   Mr. P V Surendranath, General Secretary of  All India Lawyers Union..
