A Counter Intelligence (Faridkot Unit) Inspector was arrested by the police after 3.350 kg heroin, six pistols with magazines, four additional magazines, seven live rounds and six mobile phones were recovered from his car on the Ferozepur-Moga road.
SSP Bhupinder Singh said the accused had been identified as Inspector Baldev Singh (56), a resident of Pattli village in Talwandi Bhai. “The police had received information about his alleged involvement in drug smuggling following which a trap was laid on the Ferozepur-Moga road last night”, said SSP.
“The police intercepted the car bearing registration number PB 05 AC 6517 and apprehended the accused. During the search of the vehicle, the police recovered 3.350 kg heroin, six pistols with magazines, four additional magazines, seven live rounds and six mobile phones”, said the SSP.
The accused has been booked under Section 21 of the NDPS Act and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act at Ghall Khurd police station vide FIR No. 132, dated September 26, 2026.
The SSP said the police were investigating the involvement of other persons from within the department as well as outside. He said the police had zero tolerance towards such acts and no “black sheep” would be allowed in the department.
“The accused will be produced in the court for police remand,” said the SSP.
