A meeting of all liquor licensees in Chandigarh was convened today under the chairmanship of Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Excise Commissioner, Chandigarh, to review compliance with the Excise Policy and address recent violations observed on social media platforms.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner-cum-Excise Commissioner took serious cognizance of a reel circulated on a social media application in which a liquor vendor was found serving liquor free of cost under the guise of brand promotion. The Chair informed that an FIR has already been registered against the offender and strict action is being initiated in the matter.
The Deputy Commissioner categorically stated that violation of any provision of the Excise Policy will not be tolerated under any circumstances. A stern warning was issued to all licensees that the Excise Department will not hesitate to cancel the licence of any violator and may also blacklist such offenders from participating in future allotment/licensing processes.
The Chair further directed all licensees to strictly adhere to the prescribed minimum sale price of liquor. Any deviation from the notified pricing structure shall invite stringent penal action under the relevant provisions of the Excise Policy.
It was also informed during the meeting that the Excise Department has introduced a Real-Time Stock Updation System to ensure effective monitoring and greater transparency. All licensees were directed to ensure timely and accurate updation of their liquor stock on the designated platform.
Concluding the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner-cum-Excise Commissioner emphasized the need for healthy and fair competition among all licensees. However, any deviation from the provisions of the Excise Policy or any activity detrimental to public interest and regulatory discipline shall be dealt with firmly by the Administration.
