DISCRIMINATION IN GRANTS FOR ABOHAR MUST END, MC NEEDS MORE OFFICIALS: MLA

Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

On the third day of the Punjab Assembly session, MLA Sandeep Jakhar brought to the notice of the Local Govt minister the issue of Abohar getting less grant than other cities and shortage of officers in the Municipal Corporation.

The MLA said that the development work is being affected due to less grants. The government should not discriminate against Abohar in any way in matters of development. To run the Municipal Corporation functioning smoothly and to provide better facilities to the city residents, it is necessary to have an adequate number of officers. But there is a shortage of officers in Abohar Municipal Corporation, due to which the development works and administrative system of the city is also being affected. Jakhar demanded from the government that adequate development grants should be provided to Abohar at par with other cities and more officers should be appointed in the MC soon. Abohar residents also have the right to better basic facilities and development like other cities of the state.

He said that he has been continuously raising the issues related to the people of Abohar in the Assembly and will continue to strongly voice the interests of the city in future also. Any kind of deficiency or discrimination will not be accepted in the development of Abohar. The minister assured that these matters related to Abohar will be looked into soon and necessary action will be taken. Jakhar said that he hoped that the government would soon fulfill its assurance and ensure adequate grant to Abohar as well as appointment of officers in the Corporation.
