On the fourth day of the monsoon session of the Punjab Assembly, MLA Sandeep Jakhar strongly attacked the functioning of the Bhagwant Mann government. He exposed the claims of the government by raising burning issues related to rural development and drinking water.
The MLA asked the Rural Development Minister whether the department has prepared any buffer fund for the MNREGA (VB-G RAM G) employees who are troubled due to non-payment of wages for the last six months? He alleged that this crisis has arisen due to the Punjab government not sending the necessary documents to the Central government on time. Jakhar further asked that when the Aam Aadmi Party supremo claimed to raise Rs 20,000 crore from mining, then why is there a shortage of money? His mike was switched off during this sharp supplementary question.
He took the government to task over the pending development projects in Malwa region. He said that the AAP government is being exposed by its own MLAs. The surface water project of village Ghattianwali, which was to provide drinking water to 200 villages, is running three years behind its scheduled time. Same is the situation in village Patrewala, where the drinking water scheme made for the villages falling in Abohar and Balluana assembly constituencies is running at a snail’s pace.
Speaking to the media later, the MLA demanded DA arrears should be paid in compliance with the Punjab and Haryana High Court directions instead of making excuses.
