DRONE-DROPPED HEROIN CONSIGNMENT: TWO HELD WITH 19.820 KG NARCOTIC

A joint operation by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and the BSF has led to the arrest of two alleged drug smugglers and recovery of 19.820 kg heroin, which was allegedly delivered through a drone near the Indo-Pak border.

AIG ANTF Gurinderbir Singh said the operation was carried out following specific inputs about the delivery of a heroin consignment through a drone. A trap was laid near BOP Pachharian, following which the accused, identified as Baljinder Singh alias Rocky (23) and Manjeet Singh alias Gagandeep (20), both residents of Langeana village in the Sadar area, were apprehended.

The AIG said the accused were allegedly operating as part of the local supply and distribution chain of a cross-border drug network.

During the search, the teams recovered 19.820 kg heroin along with a rubber tube measuring around four feet in length. The tube had been tightly secured at both ends with iron pipes measuring around 2.5 mm in thickness. The heroin consignment had been concealed inside the tube and allegedly airdropped by a drone.

According to sources, the drone, believed to be a large one, had entered around 4 km inside Indian territory before airdropping the consignment, which was subsequently picked up by the accused.

The AIG said both accused had been booked under the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 225 dated September 25, 2026. Further investigation is underway.
