Security agencies recovered a drone, two .30-bore pistols and 50 live cartridges during a joint search operation near the India-Pakistan border in the Guruharsahai area on Wednesday.
The recovery was made by the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and the 50 Battalion of the BSF near BOP Rana Panj Grain. The seized consignment included a DJI Mavic quadcopter, two pistols, four magazines and 50 live rounds.
According to information, the operation was launched around 4 am following specific intelligence inputs. The weapons and ammunition were found packed in two separate packets at a spot approximately 60 metres from the international border fencing.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the consignment may have been dropped on the Indian side from Pakistan using a drone. Security agencies have initiated an investigation to establish the source and intended recipients of the weapons.
Searches were also being conducted in the surrounding area to rule out the possibility of any additional consignments.
