In village Ruherianwali, some drug peddlers entered a house and attacked a man and his son with a pistol and injured them for making a video of drug sale. Alleging that the Sadar Thana police took no action, the village Sarpanch and other residents today staged a protest.
While demanding action against the accused, the protesters warned that if the accused are not caught within two days, then the entire Bazigar community of Balluana area will stage a dharna outside the police station. The sarpanch accused some AAP leaders of encouraging goons and drug peddlers.
Manu, a resident of Ruherianwali, said that two days ago, 5-6 youths from the same village came to his house and attacked him and his father and tried to snatch his phone that was used to make a video of drug sales. Manu had made a video on his phone of some peddlers selling Prega capsules in the Panchayat Ghar. The attackers injured him and his father and also broke his phone. After the incident he informed the police but the police did not act due to which the accused were still threatening them.
Sarpanch Vijay Kumar said that he was not being heard by the police administration. The campaign against drugs being run by the government lacked ground realities, drug peddling was prevailing in the villages under political shelter.
He said that addicts had broken the locks of Panchayat Ghar, committed theft and were using the same for selling prohibited capsules.
Police said that MLR has been received today itself. Action will be taken against the accused after recording the statements of the injured and victimized people.
