DRUGS CONTROL WING CONDUCTS RAID AT CHEMIST SHOP IN DARIA, SEIZES PREGABALIN CAPSULES

Acting on the directions of the Chief Secretary, Chandigarh Administration and under the guidance of the Secretary Health and Director Health Services, U.T. Chandigarh, the Drugs Control Wing conducted a raid at a chemist shop in Village Daria.

During the inspection, M/s Shukla Medicos, Shop No. 01 (House No. 102), Village Daria, Chandigarh was found to be in violation of various provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and the Rules framed thereunder. A total of 1,766 Pregabalin capsules (including cut strips) of four different allopathic drug formulations, valued at approximately ₹20,000, were seized. The seized medicines are liable to misuse and abuse.

The firm failed to maintain the mandatory sale records and was found to be indulging in the unethical sale of Pregabalin capsules.

Legal proceedings have been initiated against the firm under the relevant provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules. The seized drugs are being produced before the Hon’ble Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chandigarh and a show cause notice is being served to the firm. Further investigation is underway.

The Drugs Control Wing has reiterated that strict action will be taken against any person or establishment found violating the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules. Such enforcement drives will continue in future to curb the illegal sale and misuse of medicines.
