ENSURING PARTICIPATION IN VOTING EVEN AT THE AGE OF 98

Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

98-year-old Chatar Bihari Lal, a resident of the local Ahuja Nagari area, mustered his courage despite adverse health conditions and arrived yesterday to cast his vote for the Municipal Corporation elections.

Confirming this today, former Councillor Narender Verma said that everyone wholeheartedly praised his spirit, noting that the use of a wheelchair helped make the voting process convenient for him. Chatar Bihari Lal’s family members shared that, upholding his unwavering faith in democracy, he makes it a point to go and cast his vote in every election. When he exercised his franchise this time at the polling station located at RSD Girls Middle School, expressions of joy were clearly visible on his face.

Verma remarked that such elderly citizens serve as sources of inspiration for everyone. Although the voter turnout in Abohar stood at about 60 percent, the enthusiasm displayed not only by the elderly but also by persons with disabilities was truly a sight to behold. He added that if the younger generation were to take voting more seriously, there would be absolutely no doubt regarding the selection of the right representatives
