EXTENSIVE CASO OPERATION IN FAZILKA DISTRICT UNDER ‘OPERATION PRAHAR’: 139 ACCUSED ARRESTED

Under ‘Operation Prahar’, the Fazilka district police, under the leadership of the SSP Fazilka, Gagan Ajit Singh, conducted a special CASO (Cordon and Search Operation) simultaneously in all four subdivisions of the district. The operation was supervised by the concerned DSPs and SHOs. By forming various police teams, an extensive raid and search campaign was carried out simultaneously in drug hot-spot areas, the homes of drug traffickers, suspected locations, and sensitive places.

During this special operation, 139 accused wanted in various cases were arrested. In addition, 4 suspicious persons were taken into custody for questioning, while 10 persons were verified. Acting against drug traffickers, 7 cases were registered under the NDPS Act and 11 accused were arrested. From their possession, 36 grams of heroin and 69 intoxicating tablets were recovered.

From June 1 to date, during the campaign launched by Fazilka Police against drugs, 160 cases have been registered under the NDPS Act and the BNS, and 159 drug traffickers have been arrested. From their possession, 7 kg 857 gm of heroin, 1,835 intoxicating tablets, 30 intoxicating injections, Rs. 4,16,550 in drug money, 167.250 litres of illicit liquor, 504 litres of country liquor (IMFL and desi), and 120 litres of beer have been recovered. Fazilka Police has also arrested 21 accused in connection with the trafficking and use of illegal weapons. From their possession, 14 illegal pistols, 1 SLR, 11 magazines, and 82 live cartridges have been recovered
