A meeting of industrialists from Nabha was held at Rotary Club, Nabha, organized by Paramjit Singh Kainth, Vice President, BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha, Punjab. Prominent industrialists, traders, representatives of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and leaders of trade organizations participated in the meeting. On this occasion, Shri Sunil J. Singhi, Chairman of the National Traders Welfare Board, Government of India, attended as the chief guest and held a direct interaction with traders.
Addressing the meeting, Shri Sunil J. Singhi expressed serious concern over extortion threats being received by industrialists and said that the atmosphere of insecurity was affecting investors’ confidence. He stated that a strong law-and-order system, effective action against criminals, and ensuring the safety of traders were essential for industrial development in Punjab. He informed the gathering that a letter would be written to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann seeking concrete action on these issues. According to him, controlling drugs, corruption, and crime was crucial for Punjab’s economic progress.
Renowned industrialist and combine manufacturer Shri Charan Singh Rahnal said that the increasing regulatory burden was affecting the competitiveness of domestic manufacturers, and its economic burden would ultimately fall on farmers. He explained that compliance with engine and emission regulations, as well as future TREM-4 standards, required substantial investment in expensive technological changes, testing, and certification. He demanded that regulations be formulated in accordance with the actual requirements of Indian agriculture and that domestic manufacturers be provided adequate time and policy support to implement technological changes.
Paramjit Singh Kainth said that ignoring the problems faced by industries could adversely affect Punjab’s economy and employment opportunities for young people. He stated that strengthening Nabha’s combine manufacturing, furniture, rice milling, and spare parts industries was essential to achieving the objectives of ‘Viksit Bharat–2047’, ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, and ‘Make in India’. He said that ensuring industrial security, improving infrastructure, resolving policy-related obstacles, and expanding employment opportunities should be among the government’s priorities. He assured the gathering that the concerns of industrialists would be raised at the appropriate government forums.
Special guest Shri Bhagwant Singh Ramgarhia and industrialist Simranjit Singh Sodhi also emphasized the need for a secure business environment, transparent administration, and investment-friendly policies. Representatives of various industrial and trade organizations shared their views on industrial development, the safety of traders, and the promotion of domestic manufacturing.
