In a boost to its freight business, the Ferozepur railway division has earned Rs 91.73 lakh by facilitating the export of 18 LHB coaches to Bangladesh Railway. The first rake was dispatched from Hussainpur railway station to Darshana railway station in Bangladesh on October 11, following efforts by the division’s Business Development Unit (BDU).

The coaches, manufactured by the Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala, have been specially designed to meet the operational and passenger requirements of Bangladesh Railway. The consignment marks a significant step towards expanding the international reach of Indian-made railway equipment.

Divisional Railway Manager Sanjeev Kumar said the successful dispatch reflected effective coordination among the Ferozepur division, RCF Kapurthala, RITES (Rail India Technical and Economic Service) Limited and Bangladesh Railway.

He said the initiative aligned with the ‘Make in India, for the World’ vision and would help strengthen India’s presence in the global railway market through the export of indigenously manufactured coaches.

Paramdeep Singh Saini, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Freight), said the achievement resulted from sustained efforts by the division’s Business Development Unit and close coordination with concerned organisations.

He said that such initiatives would help Indian Railways explore international business opportunities, generate additional revenue and promote the export of railway coaches manufactured in India.
